Problems

Despite its rich history and valuable collection, the museum faced significant challenges in connecting with modern audiences. The primary challenge was the museum's outdated image, which created a perception of an inaccessible institution disconnected from current trends. The absence of a dedicated website limited their ability to showcase educational achievements and offerings. Additionally, the museum's unique approach of having young scouts conduct tours created a need for comprehensive, accessible educational tools. The task of digitally cataloging nearly 1,000 exhibits added another layer of complexity to the project.

SOLUTION

I took on the transformation of the museum's digital presence and educational tools. The project included rebranding, website design, mobile application development, and the creation of an educational platform. The rebranding process began with research into both traditional museum education methods and current digital learning approaches. The color palette was inspired by the museum's historical logo, which has its roots in ethnographic patterns. The shape of the logotype retained its reference to folk cutouts from the Kurpie region and received a refreshed, more modern look of the scout lily. The communication style was carefully chosen to appeal to both young scouts and general visitors. The typography follows the brand guidelines of the entire ZHP organization. A significant part of my work involved developing a mobile application that serves as both a tour guide and an educational tool. The user interface was designed to be intuitive for users of all ages, incorporating interactive elements. The museum's website was created to position the museum as a valuable cultural and educational place. I designed sections of the website to present the colorful founding history, current events, and educational notes, descriptions of the collections and exhibits, the team, the museum's educational and workshop offerings, and a place for press references and publications. The next digital project I designed for the museum was an educational platform that serves as a comprehensive digital resource center. It includes detailed exhibit information, interactive learning materials, and tools for remote education. The platform has extended the museum's reach beyond its physical walls, making its collections and resources accessible to a wider audience. The museum’s new offer and presence were complemented by promotional printed materials, such as catalogs, leaflets, educational boards, and numerous gadgets.

Summary

I led a comprehensive digital transformation of the Scout Ethnographic Museum in Poland, improving its accessibility and educational impact through strategic rebranding, website development, and an innovative mobile application. The project seamlessly merged traditional scout values with modern design principles, creating an educational platform that provides digital access to nearly 1,000 exhibits while maintaining the museum's unique approach to youth-led tours. The project represents a successful creation of interactive digital tools that allow the repositioning of the museum as a dynamic cultural institution that bridges historical heritage with contemporary educational needs.
